Arcadia University

The position of staff therapist is responsible for providing comprehensive direct and indirect clinical services to Arcadia University's undergraduate and graduate student population. Services include: individual, group, AOD assessments, crisis counseling, consultation, referral assistance, and outreach programming. The staff therapist position requires a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of clients with diverse clinical needs, with a particular focus on serving the needs of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) individuals and other diverse and historically marginalized populations. This candidate will also demonstrate sensitivity and knowledge about diversity, equity, and inclusion and embrace opportunities for continued growth in cultural competence.

This position is temporary full-time, 37.5 hours/week through May 31, 2022.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides short-term individual and group counseling and clinical evaluation with a specialization in working with young adults and college students, including those from underrepresented identities.(i.e. BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+)
  • Provides and develops outreach programming, education and trainings on various mental health/wellness topics to the university community and facilitates student leader trainings.
  • Participates in daytime on-call rotation and assists students who are in crisis and present to the center as high-risk.
  • Provides consultation to faculty, staff, family, and other members of the university community, and consults with off-campus providers, as appropriate to effectively refer students off-campus when they need a higher level of care.
  • Manages clinical documentation on confidential software program and completes timely record keeping.
  • Participates in clinical group supervision with trainees, Counseling Services staff meetings and individual clinical supervision.
  • Participates in supervised clinical supervision of graduate trainee(s).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned terminal degree (Master's in Counseling and/or Social Work) and licensed eligible within 2 years of hire.
  • Experience working with a college age population.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctoral degree and licensed eligible within 1-2 years of hire.
