The Programmer Analyst will perform the critical function of supporting Programming and Systems Analysis needs at Arcadia University. The Programmer Analyst will be a part of a dynamic IT division and Enterprise Application team. Under the supervision of the Director of Enterprise Applications, this person will code and modify moderate to highly complex programs, including applications/systems integration. He or She will also test and debug code; maintain, modify, and integrate applications. They will also perform analysis and design of programs, edit and approve user as well as application documentation for the use of new and revised systems, including operational documentation.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains established applications using defined procedures. Arcadia uses Ellucian's PowerCampus as its Student Information System (SIS). The University is implementing SalesForce CRM as its whole student lifecycle engagement platform.
  • Applies and troubleshoots vendor supplied upgrades; follows established methods for integrating or interfacing multiple applications.
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Applications team to support and maintain various applications, integrations both custom and vendor supported.
  • Gathers information and contributes to definition of program requirements, use case, statement of work and proposal development.
  • Implement standards, procedures, and controls to ensure the security, reliability, and availability of enterprise applications.
  • Develop database data warehouse integrations for sharing data among systems based on high quality, streamlined, reusable code
  • Develop reports for the end-user community
  • Establish good working relationships with the Enterprise Application vendors
  • Coordinate efforts related to custom programming requests with the supervisor and peers in the department.
  • Develops and recommends specifications for new applications and proposed changes to existing applications.
  • Provides training and documentation for users. Creates and maintains technical documentation on all custom applications.
  • Maintains familiarity with new technology standards and how each may be applied to the future growth and development of the existing systems at Arcadia University. Work with users and departments to re-engineer business processes

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent programming skills in T-SQL, .NET, PHP, Python, JavaScript, CSS, or similar
  • Good understanding of Active Directory objects and CAS, Shibboleth, or similar
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with a demonstrated ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of constituents including management, coworkers, users, faculty, students, and vendors
  • Strong SQL experience required.
  • Knowledge of VB.Net, Python, ASP.Net, PHP, ADO.Net or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of business practices and a demonstrated ability to effectively map workflows
  • Support Software Applications and make recommendations to automate/improve business/academic processes.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Must be a critical thinker and problem solver.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating web applications with database technologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SQLServer Reporting Services (SSRS), SQLServer Integration Services (5515)
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to a fluid work environment.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or
  • Three years of programming experience
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered
