TITLE: Assistant Professor, Department of Historical and Political Studies

Job Summary:
Arcadia University invites applications to fill a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Historical & Political Studies (HAPS), to begin in fall 2023. HAPS is an interdisciplinary department with four undergraduate majors (History, International Studies, Philosophy, and Politics, Government, & Law) and one Master's program (International Peace and Conflict Resolution).
Responsibilities:
Teach interdisciplinary undergraduate university courses in History, International Studies, Politics, and Government. Prepare and deliver lectures, as well as evaluate the progress of the students' understanding of course material consistent with our mission and characterization of an institution of higher learning. Develop and pursue a scholarly agenda that includes conducting and supervising research, advising, holding office hours, and further advancing the students' overall knowledge of the subject field. Continue professional development as well as participate in other activities normally associated with faculty responsibilities, including participating in graduation ceremonies, open houses, and related assignments.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have expertise in East or Southeast Asia or the Middle East. Thematic specialization in one or more of the following areas is also desired: international political economy, global governance, conflict management, or environmental politics and sustainable development. We welcome candidates with training in Political Science, History, Anthropology, and other related disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields. PhD strongly preferred by September 2023, as are demonstrated excellence in and commitment to teaching, and a strong research and publishing record commensurate with the candidate's experience.
