Job Description: Arcadia University will provide intensive English language instruction to approximately 60 second-year students, divided into three sections, in the Mathematics program at Jiangsu University. The course is to help students improve their writing and speaking abilities in order to pass the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam, after which they may be qualified to enroll in Arcadia at the beginning of their third or fourth year. Due to the time difference between the United States and China, this online course requires the instructor to teach in the morning four days a week and in the evening two times a week. A 4-Credit Course
Location: Glenside/Remote location
Essential Functions:
- Providing online instruction on writing and speaking to prepare second-year students at Jiangsu University for the IELTS: approximately 10 hrs/week
- Maintaining virtual office hours at least 6 times during the semester
- Coordinating with English professors at Jiangsu University on topics to cover in the course
- Submitting final grades within 4 days of the end of the semester
- Coordinating with Arcadia University program manager, Tran Chau, to ensure quality instruction
Marginal Functions:
- Providing opportunities for students to practice speaking English
Qualifications:
- Three years of experience teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language
- Travel or study abroad experience, ideally in China or Asia
- Familiarity with English proficiency tests, such as the IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo
