Job Description: The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for coordinating engagement opportunities that enhance residence life and will also play a significant role in campus life engagement. The coordinator is responsible for the oversight of residential communities within Residence Life Housing and Campus Life Engagement initiatives including; student organization advising and campus life programming. The ideal candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable of local and national trends in student development theory, particularly in the areas of student leadership, and engagement. This position serves as a member of the live-in staff and serves on the on-call team. This position receives a one bedroom on campus apartment and an annual salary. Essential Functions:
- Supervise assigned undergraduate and graduate student staff, assist with training and development of student staff who report to Residence Life (Resident Assistants, Peer Mentors, students on Work/Study, etc).
- Assist with the planning and execution of Campus Life Division or University-wide initiatives including but not limited to (New Student Orientation Week, Family Weekend, Student Programming Board, Day of Service, Scarlet and Grey Day, Open House, and Scarlet Knights (Spring Fling)).
- Assist with the planning and execution of Residence Life initiatives including but not limited to (Opening, Closing, Living-Learning Communities, Summer Housing, Break Housing, RA training, selection, requirement, room change process, housing selection and assignments).
- Enforce policies and support the conduct process as a primary hearing officer to determine level of responsibility in violations of campus policy.
- Advise, liaise, and provide support to assigned student organizations, class councils, in addition to providing leadership training for student leaders.
- Refer students to appropriate campus resources or create meaningful sanctions which support the development of critical thinking skills.
- Respond to significant student health and student conduct situations via the emergency first level on-call duty coverage to preserve campus community safety.
- Interpret and enforce a variety of University, Campus Life, and Residence Life policies governing student behavior to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
- Assist with the development and assessment of student learning outcomes, program goals and objectives to support student success.
- Participate in Residence Life and Campus Life meetings and initiatives including various campus-wide committees and projects assigned by the Director and the Vice President / Dean of Students.
- Assist with updating Residence Life manuals, websites, social media platforms and other relevant departmental materials.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible evening and weekend hours are required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, or counseling strongly preferred.
- Prior experience with on-call emergency response practices in a university setting is strongly preferred.
- Experience and/or background in crisis management, and student development, are also strongly preferred.
Note: This is a live-in position that requires the employee to live in university housing
